Eugene and Dan Levy Officially Set as Emmys Hosts

With less than a month to go before the 76th Emmy Awards, the telecast’s hosts are finally set. As expected, the father-son duo of Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will emcee this year’s Emmys, which take place on Sunday, Sept. 15, live on ABC.
The two made history in 2020 as the first father and son to win major awards in the same year, thanks to “Schitt’s Creek.” That year — in which winners appeared remotely, due to the COVID-19 pandemic — saw Eugene Levy win for outstanding comedy actor and Dan Levy win for supporting comedy actor. Dan Levy also picked up wins for writing and directing, while both won the outstanding comedy series Emmy as exec producers.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” the Levys said in a joint statement. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy rep the first-ever father-son hosting partners for the Emmys; they’re also the first duo to do it since 2018 (when Colin Jost and Michael Che co-hosted) and only the second duo to host this century.
“Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and uncanny ability to capture the hearts of viewers will make for a memorable Emmys telecast honoring this year’s best and brightest,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group.
It will be a big Emmys for Eugene Levy: He’s nominated this year for his Apple TV+ series “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy,” which is up for outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special.
“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmy’s stage as hosts,” said TV Academy chair Cris Abrego. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”
Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will work closely Emmy producers Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment, who earned raves in January for producing the previous Emmy telecast, hosted by Anthony Anderson.
“Eugene and Dan Levy created two of the most iconic TV characters in recent history and are a perfect fit to host television’s biggest night,” Collins, Harmon and Rouzan-Clay said in a joint statement. “We look forward to the audience having an unforgettable experience with this dynamic duo.”
On Thursday, the Jesse Collins Ent. team revealed members of their production team for the 76th Emmy Awards. (Previously announced, Alex Rudzinski returns as director.)
Returning from the production team that handled January’s well-received 75th Emmy Awards telecast on Fox are Brittany Brazil as co-executive producer; producer Taryn Hurd; production designer Brian Stonestreet; and head writer Jon Macks. Emmy Award winner Rickey Minor is back as music director for the sixth time; lighting designer Noah Mitz and screens producer Drew Findley return as well. Eric Cook is joining the team as co-executive producer.
As for Eugene Levy, besides “Schitt’s Creek,” he’s of course known for “SCTV” as well as the “American Pie” franchise and films such as “Bringing Down the House,” “Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and “Father of the Bride Part II.” He’s next seen in the new season of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.”
Dan Levy’s Not a Real Production Company has been behind Max’s “The Big Brunch,” as well as his directorial debut, “Good Grief.” He’s behind the upcoming documentary “Lilith Fair,” and was recently seen in the final season of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Season 4 of Netflix’s “Sex Education,” Disney’s “Haunted Mansion” remake and Hulu’s holiday rom-com “Happiest Season.” Next up is Paramount‘s animated “The Smurfs Movie”; “Animal Friends”; and Kornel Mundruczó’s drama “At the Sea.”
Eugene Levy is repped by UTA, Hunter Brand Management and Yorn, Levine and Barnes; Dan Levy is repped by WME, MGMT Entertainment and Morris Yorn.
The 76th Emmys airs live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Love in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15 (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT), on ABC, and streams the next day on Hulu.
