The actress was born on 12th July 1975 in Mbaise, Imo State, in the southeastern region of Nigeria. She is a member of the royal family of Waturuocha of Aboh Mbaise local government.

Rita Dominic's parents (late) were medical practitioners. Her father was a medical doctor while her mother was a nursing officer. She is the youngest of her four siblings whose names and whereabouts aren't publicly known.

Rita joined Ikot Ekpene Primary School in Akwa Ibom State where she attained her first school leaving certificate. She enrolled at the Federal Government College where she obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.
